Reviews & Comments “Jack is quickly becoming our go-to narrator. He's completed multiple narration projects for our eLearning modules. He is easy to work with, his narration is high quality, and he's very knowledgeable about file types, formatting, and audio file preferences. I would strongly recommend Jack de Golia for voice-overs and narration." --Sarah Glova, Owner/President, Reify Media, Raleigh, N.C., April 2014 "I hired Jack for my client's audiobook project - a novel by a foreign author. Jack was very attentive to my client's wishes, respected the deadline, worked at a good pace, reported regularly and delivered an excellent product. Moreover, Jack went an extra mile to provide feedback that helped my client to improve the book. I recommend Jack's services to everyone who's looking for a high value professional narration/voiceover." --Camilla Stein, Glagoslav Publications "I'd tell you to hire Jack de Golia if you want a professional and amazing narrator for your audiobooks but I want him all to myself... but once all 47 of my books are made into audiobooks, you can have him!" -Armand Rosamilia Trial and Terror: “A Sizzling Legal Thriller for the Summer, “ reviewed by Teresa “Vibrant Lifeforce.” This is my first time to listen to Jack de Golia. He is an extremely talented narrator with a wide vocal range. All the characters were very well done and a few were outstanding! I will listen to more books narrated by him in the future. I was very impressed with this book overall. The author knows his business and he's good at it and Jack de Golia is a superb narrator. I received the audiobook free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review. From an author who listened to Jack's work on her novel: "I *LOVE* it!!!! I absolutely love it, the voices, the slight accents, the pace of the narration. My teenage son walked by when I was listening, and he thought this was a David Baldacci audiobook." --Julia Gousseva, Author of Gray Shadows For Beyond the Higher Ground: Narrator Jack de Golia elevates this novel, which focuses on life in Appalachia through the perspective of a grieving widower tasked with building a prison atop a mountain. De Golia's vocal and accent range is exceptional. He slips easily from the voice of the main character, a Midwesterner, to the voices of characters with stereotypical Appalachian speaking patterns and accents. For the character who is an opium addict, de Golia creates two complementary voices that differentiate when she is clean from when she is high. In this way, de Golia enlists listeners' empathy for her situation. De Golia is a star. Listening to him is like taking a master class in narration. (Audiofile Magazine, Sept. 2020) For Dirty Deeds, Vol. 1: Jack de Golia is the consummate narrator for this clever story. James Gaffney (not his real name) is a "child killer for hire" who actually does the opposite--saves the kids and has them adopted. Listeners will thoroughly enjoy de Golia's rendering of the chubby, sloppy, witty, and kind 40-something Gaffney. Since it's generally affluent parents who hire him, he is also wealthy. His assistant, Marissa (a kid he saved), helps him survive the many risks he takes. It's fun and informative to hear him perform his other job as a baseball card dealer. De Golia also excels at portraying the undesirables Gaffney mingles with. Gaffney frequently doesn't know the good guys from the bad--nor will listeners. The literal and figurative cliff-hanger ending is par for the course. S.G.B. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2018] https://www.audiofilemagazine.com/reviews/read/138422/ For Gray Shadows: “Narrator Jack de Golia dynamically depicts the Gray Shadows, bodyguards who use their intelligence more than their weapons to protect their clients. Nikolai Tokovich, who works for the Centurion Personal Protection Agency, is recovering after being shot while guarding Natalya, the spoiled daughter of an oligarch. De Golia deftly presents the warm, thoughtful Tokovich; immature, mischievous Natalya; and the diverse men of the Arctic oil fields. As rich, authentic Russian accents abound, the most fun is cab driver Oleg, who doubles as a computer expert. Gorgeous description and a surprising climax take listeners on a thrilling ride in post-Soviet Russia, where monied thugs attempt to rule.”—AudioFile Magazine, March 2015 For The Tesla Secret: “With his gravelly voice, narrator Jack de Golia brings vocal grit to the ongoing battle between the forces of good and a centuries-old conspiracy of wannabe overlords. The battle-hardened professional warriors of the Project find themselves facing an uphill struggle against the power-hungry members of Ion, who plan to develop a death ray to take over the world. De Golia ably supplies the gruff, clipped tones of the men in this testosterone-laden narrative and creates believable female voices as well. Thanks to de Golia's pacing and Lukeman's story, the action keeps hurtling along in this fun production.” AudioFile Magazine, January 2015. For House on Turner Lane: Narrator Jack de Golia creates a delicious atmosphere of dread in this audiobook. The story begins when Olivia Thompson reluctantly leaves her sick mother to go hiking with her boyfriend. They end up in a small Michigan town filled with colorful townsfolk and a creepy hotel with oddball proprietors. Listeners will appreciate the vivid descriptions of the landscape and feel a tingle when the couple register at the unwelcoming hotel. Thompson's well-rendered sister, Rachel, and her dedicated neighbor become concerned when they realize Rachel has become incommunicado. When Rachel decides to track down Olivia, she meets the regulars of the local tavern, including de Golia's most engaging creation, Paul Karppenian, who extends help and friendship. The conclusion is preceded by many red herrings. AudioFile Magazine, August 2019. For Masterpieces of Adventure: Adventures within Walls: This far-reaching collection of short stories featuring desert settings contains some of the most engaging tales in the Western canon. The audiobook is delivered at just the right pace by Jack de Golia. Narrating energetically, he takes on the characters' voices with a chameleon-like effect. His ability to inhabit the spirit and sound of the French, Spanish, and Russians, young and old, highborn and low, elevates these classics. His portrayal of a banker in Chekhov's "The Bet" convincingly goes through his transformation from cocksure to unsure, and his young cowboy in O. Henry's "Double-Dyed Deceiver" is among his best work. Edited by Nella Braddy in 1922, these adventures have stood the test of time and keep the listener rapt. A.D.M. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2021] For Kipling in the West 1889: Narrator Jack de Golia thoroughly inhabits 24-year-old Rudyard Kipling. The year is 1889, and the British journalist/correspondent is traveling around the western U.S. and Canada. Kipling's wry sense of humor overlays his observations of life and customs in San Francisco, Portland, and Vancouver. He also visits Yellowstone National Park and "Old Faithful," the Great Salt Lake, the Grand Canyon, and the Rocky Mountains. De Golia portrays the people Kipling encounters, including broad-toned Boston Brahmins, flat-accented Californians, naïve debutantes, and hardened railroaders. Kipling's keen journalist's eye captures habits, quirks, and eccentricities, along with racist and imperialist attitudes of the day. M.B.K. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2021] For The Last Hike: Jack de Golia narrates this tale of a man in pain who experiences the final joy of life coming full circle. deGolia gives a compelling narration of Paul’s journey with tonal inflections and a cadence reflective of Paul’s personality and experiences. I cannot think of a better narrator for this book than Jack de Golia. His skills and talents further enriched an already moving story. … This book was awarded the Audiobook Reviewer’s Choice Award as it was deemed to deserve a higher ranking than the standard 5-star rating.
